Altitude and Speed Profile
Every flight with a recorded path can be opened in profile: altitude and ground speed over the length of the flight, drawn from the positions the aircraft actually broadcast. Premium unlocks the profile. The path itself, drawn on the flight map, is free for everyone.
Where to Find It
- Open a flight
- Scroll to the flight map
- Under it, open Altitude and speed
The row is closed by default and appears only on flights that have a recorded path. Its summary shows the peaks of the flight before you even open it.
What You See
- Altitude as the filled shape, in the same colour as the path on the map
- Ground speed as the thin line over it, on its own scale
- Peaks: highest altitude and fastest ground speed
- Vertical rate while you inspect a point, so a climb or descent reads as one
Drag (or hover, on the web) across the chart and a marker follows the same moment along the path on the map.
Units
The profile follows the unit setting on your account:

Reading the Gaps
Flights are recorded by volunteer ground receivers, and no network hears every aircraft everywhere. Where the recording has a hole, the chart marks it rather than joining the ends into a climb that never happened:
- Dashed amber is a stretch bridged by a satellite datalink report. Those arrive minutes apart over the oceans and still describe the flight.
- Faint dots are a stretch nobody heard at all.
The same stretches appear the same way on the flight map, so the two always tell one story.
When a Flight Has No Profile
The row is missing when the flight has no recorded path to build it from. That happens when:
- The flight is too old for the networks' archives
- The aircraft that operated it is not known
- Too little of the route was recorded to be worth drawing
- The positions carry no altitude, which happens on very short recordings
Nothing is wrong with the flight itself, and adding the aircraft's registration often lets a path be found on the next visit.

- The profile needs no extra loading: it is built from the path the map already drew
- Recording a path is never retroactive, so a flight logged long after it was flown may not have one
