Account and Registration

How do I create an account?

Visit the SkyJourney app or website and tap "Sign Up". You can register with your email address or use Continue with Google. If you register with email, verify it to activate your account.

Can I use SkyJourney without creating an account?

No, an account is required to save and sync your flight data across devices. Creating an account is free and takes less than a minute.

How do I change my email address?

Go to Settings > Account > Email Address. Enter your new email and confirm the change via the verification link sent to your new address.

I forgot my password. How do I reset it?

Click "Forgot Password" on the login screen, enter your email address, and follow the reset link sent to your inbox. The link expires after 24 hours.

Adding Flights

How do I add a flight manually?

Tap the "+" button, select "Add Manually", and enter your flight details including airline, flight number, date, and airports. The app will auto-fill route information where possible.

Can I add flights from my email confirmations?

Yes, with Premium. Open Add Flight, choose Forward Emails, and forward your airline confirmation emails to [email protected]. SkyJourney extracts the flight details and adds them to your logbook automatically.

Why isn't my flight number recognized?

Flight numbers change seasonally or may be entered incorrectly. Double-check the format (e.g., "AA123" not "AA 123"). If still not found, you can add the flight manually with airport codes.

Can I add future flights?

Absolutely! Add flights up to 12 months in advance. They'll appear in your timeline and count toward your statistics once the flight date passes.

How do I edit or delete a flight?

Tap any flight in your logbook, then use the edit icon to modify details or the trash icon to delete. Changes sync across all your devices immediately.

Import Issues

My email import isn't working. What should I do?

Email forwarding is a Premium feature. Make sure you're forwarding from the email address registered to your account to [email protected], and that the confirmation email actually contains flight details (some airlines send separate emails). See our Import Issues Guide for more.

Which apps can I import from?

You can import from Flightradar24, OpenFlights, Flighty, App In The Air, JetLovers, byAir, FlightMemory, and SkyJourney's own CSV export. See Importing from Other Apps for the per-source steps.

Can I import flights from other tracking apps?

Yes! Open Add Flight, choose Import, pick your source app, and upload the exported file. Most sources use a CSV file; App In The Air uses a text file and FlightMemory uses a PDF.

The imported flight has wrong details. How do I fix it?

Open the flight from your logbook and edit the affected fields. See Incorrect Data for tips on fixing aircraft, times, and airports.

Statistics and Achievements

How are my statistics calculated?

Statistics update in real-time based on completed flights. Distance uses great circle calculations, CO2 estimates use ICAO standards, and flight time includes actual block hours when available.

Why don't my statistics match other apps?

Different apps use different calculation methods for distance (great circle vs. actual route) and CO2 emissions. SkyJourney uses industry-standard ICAO formulas for accuracy.

What are achievements and how do I earn them?

Achievements are milestones unlocked by reaching goals like visiting continents, flying certain distances, or trying different airlines. View all achievements and progress in the Achievements tab.

Can I compare my stats with friends?

Yes! Add friends from the Friends page to connect with other travelers. You can also share a public profile so friends can see your travel map and stats.

Premium Features

What's included in SkyJourney Premium?

Premium adds historical flight weather, delay and reliability insights, file attachments, aircraft info, terminal and gate tracking, travel buddies, similar flights, boarding pass scanning, live flight updates, and CSV export. Unlimited flights, statistics, maps, achievements, friends, and import are already included for free.

How much does Premium cost?

Premium is available as a monthly subscription ($2.99/month) or an annual subscription ($29.99/year, saving about 16%). Prices may vary by region.

Can I try Premium before subscribing?

Eligible new subscribers may be offered a free trial when they upgrade. When a trial is active, the app shows the date it ends, so you can cancel before then to avoid being charged.

How do I cancel my Premium subscription?

Go to Settings > Subscription > Manage Subscription. Follow the platform-specific instructions for iOS App Store, Google Play, or web billing. Access continues until the end of your billing period.

Privacy and Data

Is my flight data private?

Yes! Your data is private by default. Only you can see your flights unless you explicitly share your profile or specific flights. We never sell your personal data.

Can I export my data?

Yes. With Premium, go to Settings > Flights > Export to CSV to download your flights as a CSV file. You own your data and can export it anytime.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Settings > Account > Delete Account. This permanently removes all your data from our servers within 30 days. Export your data first if you want to keep a copy.

Do you share data with third parties?

We only share anonymized, aggregated data for analytics. We never share personally identifiable information. Read our full Privacy Policy in Settings > Legal > Privacy Policy.

Technical Issues

The app crashes when I open it. What should I do?

Try force-closing and reopening the app. If issues persist, check for updates in your app store. Still having trouble? Go to Settings > Help > Report Problem with crash details.

My flights aren't syncing between devices. Help!

Ensure you're logged into the same account on all devices and have an active internet connection. Try logging out and back in. Manual sync is available in Settings > Sync Now.

Why is the app using so much storage?

Cached map data and photos can accumulate. Clear cache in Settings > Storage > Clear Cache. This won't delete your flights, just temporary files.

I found a bug. How do I report it?

We appreciate bug reports! Go to Settings > Help > Report Problem, describe the issue with steps to reproduce, and include screenshots if possible. Our team investigates all reports.

Billing

Why was I charged after canceling?

Cancellations take effect at the end of your current billing period. If charged after canceling, contact support at [email protected] with your receipt for a refund.

Can I get a refund?

Refunds are handled through your platform (App Store/Google Play/Web). Generally, refunds are available within 14 days of purchase if you haven't used Premium features extensively.

How do I update my payment method?

Go to Settings > Subscription > Payment Method. Follow platform-specific instructions to update your credit card or payment information.

Do you offer student or group discounts?

We occasionally offer promotional discounts. Join our mailing list in Settings > Account > Email Preferences to receive notifications about special offers and discounts.
