Flight Not Found
What to do when SkyJourney can't find your flight.
Why Flights Aren't Found
Common Reasons
- Flight number format incorrect
- Flight not in database yet
- Airline code missing or wrong
- Flight operated by different airline
- Charter or private flight
- Very recent or future flight
Quick Fixes
Check Flight Number Format
Correct formats:
AA123(airline code + number)UAL456(3-letter code + number)BA2490
Incorrect:
123(missing airline)American 123(full name)AA 123(space between)
Try Alternative Formats
If AA123 doesn't work, try:
AAL123(3-letter ICAO code)0123(with leading zero)- Different airline code (codeshare)
Search by Route
If flight number fails:
- Use airport code search
- Enter departure + arrival airports
- Select your flight from list
- Add to logbook manually
Codeshare Flights
What Are Codeshares?
Same physical flight, multiple flight numbers.
Example:
- British Airways flight
- Marketed as BA1234, AA6789, IB5555
Finding Codeshare Operator
- Check your ticket/booking
- Look for "Operated by..."
- Try the operating airline code
- Search both marketing and operating numbers
Common Codeshare Partners
- AA/BA/IB (Oneworld)
- UA/LH/AC (Star Alliance)
- DL/AF/KL (SkyTeam)
Recent or Future Flights
Flight Too New
- Database updates may lag 24-48 hours
- New routes take longer to appear
- Try again tomorrow
- Add manually if urgent
Future Flight Not Listed
- Schedules added 3-6 months ahead
- Far future flights may not exist yet
- Add as planned flight
- Update details later
Regional and Charter Flights
Regional Carriers
Often operated by different airline:
- "United Express" → different operator
- "American Eagle" → regional partner
- Use actual operating airline code
Charter Flights
Not in commercial databases:
- Tour operator flights
- Private charters
- Seasonal holiday flights
Solution: Add manually with available details
